ETA:  This post is from April.  It’s the last one I wrote before I moved, and for some reason I never pressed the publish button.

New Yarn (well, sort of new)! Silk, spun from hankies. Usually I ply everything I spin, but I really like this the way it is. Very lively and twisty. It’s about 178 yards. You get a whole lot more yardage when you don’t ply, too!

I’ve made a lot of life changes, which I shall not go into here just yet.  But I do have a finished project and a sock in progress to share.  Click the pictures for Ravelry links.

I made this little mousie while sitting in a long wind symphony rehearsal back in April. Angel adores her. She's made of Cascade 220 Superwash Scraps.

I call these he didnt like my estonian stockings.

I call these "he didn't like my estonian stockings."

I started these socks after wearing my Estonian Stockings to work one day with a grey skirt.  One of my coworkers kept looking at me all day long, and I thought it was because I looked pretty, but he told me afterward that he thought I was dressed funny.  Sometimes honesty hurts.  So the next day I went out and bought sock yarn.  It’s South West Trading Company TOFUtsies in colorway 924.

New Mittens

15Apr08

There hasn’t been too much knitting going on, since it is the end of the semester and I’m too stressed out to think about projects (last year it was the opposite – I couldn’t NOT knit).  I do have new scrappy mittens, and a little more spinning to show, though.

These are just basic mittens with an afterthought thumb.  It was my first afterthought thumb – I really like it.  Very simple and easy.  Not too fussy, and you don’t have to put stitches on holders while you’re knitting the mitten.

And here’s the impossible to photograph brown handspun.  It’s just more bulky 2-ply.  Simple, no thinking required.  I need that now.

Hopefully more knitting will happen starting Saturday night after my senior recital.  I should celebrate by casting on something new!  I’ve been wanting to knit lace.
