New Mittens

There hasn’t been too much knitting going on, since it is the end of the semester and I’m too stressed out to think about projects (last year it was the opposite - I couldn’t NOT knit).  I do have new scrappy mittens, and a little more spinning to show, though.

These are just basic mittens with an afterthought thumb.  It was my first afterthought thumb - I really like it.  Very simple and easy.  Not too fussy, and you don’t have to put stitches on holders while you’re knitting the mitten.

And here’s the impossible to photograph brown handspun.  It’s just more bulky 2-ply.  Simple, no thinking required.  I need that now.

Hopefully more knitting will happen starting Saturday night after my senior recital.  I should celebrate by casting on something new!  I’ve been wanting to knit lace.

Spinning

Beside one really big project that will not be included in my blog at this time, there has been relatively little knitting going on here.  Just a bit of this and that, but nothing special.  I have been spinning a lot over the past few days though.  I bought a whole bunch of random scraps of roving recently to hopefully make a simple stockinette pullover out of bulky 2-ply handspun.  It spins up SO fast - it’s very satisfying.

That’s about 275ish yards, and I’ve got plain brown roving for the rest of the sweater.  I’m thinking about a really simple brown sweater with some sort of colorwork in the yoke.

spring break

I just had my very last spring break (unless I go to school again someday).  I’m really feeling like the end is near!  I graduate May 3!

I spent spring break with my bf, but we both had so much work to do that I feel like I didn’t really get a spring break anyway.  I did get to spend some time with his cat Oscar though :)  He loves to pose for the camera.

I knit a ton over the break on just one project, which is just taking forever and ever.  Luckily the deadline is this week so I’ll be done soon and can start on projects I’m really interested in.  Most notably, the Venezia Pullover.  I have the yarn and I’m super excited!
